Jeremy Denk plays "The Alcotts" from Charles Ives, Sonata No. 2 ("Concord, Mass., 1840-1860")

Jeremy Denk is an American classical pianist and graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory with a degree in piano and chemistry. He holds a master's degree in music from Indiana University and a doctorate in piano performance from the Juilliard School. He won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1997, and since those early days has collaborated with many of the world's finest string quartets as well as major orchestras and noted soloists.

His musical interpretations are described as original and fresh with such comments as: "… the ideal interpreter for music that defies easy classification" (Richmond Times); "… brilliant playing at the edge of Schumann's sanity," (Washington Post) and, of his playing of the Waldstein Sonata, "… a radical take on a revolutionary work." (New York Sun)

As well as a performer, Denk is praised for his widely-read blog, "Think Denk," described as sensitive and witty, in which he writes about his touring, practicing and other unrelated experiences.
