The St. Lawrence String Quartet plays Mozart's Quartet in C Major, K. 465 ("Dissonant")
Andante Cantabile

Founded in 1989 the St. Lawrence String Quartet has become one of Canada's premiere chamber ensembles. The group has won many awards and has walked on stage nearly 2,000 times for the past twenty years. They are noted for imaginative and spontaneous music making.

The quartet has served as resident instructors at the Juilliard School, the Universities of Yale, Toronto, Hartford and Stanford. In addition, they have created residency programs for the Disney Institute in Orlando and the Carnegie Hall Foundation in New York City.

Their recordings, found on the EMI label, include the works of great artists of the Romantic era as well as 20th century composers. In 2003 SLSQ received two Grammy nominations for their landmark Yiddishbuk CD (music of Ozvaldo Golijov), and in 2001 they received the Juno Award (the Canadian "Grammy") for their release of Schumann's First and Third Quartets. Their Tchaikovsky CD has been called the "benchmark" recording of these works.
